The fire protection layer was updated utilizing the Montana Cadastral Layer of 2022, an overlay of fire protection assessments, classified forest lands, forest fire districts and affidavit unit boundaries, Montana FWP and DNRC Trust Lands data, BLM SMA data for federal agency ownership information and the USFS EDW_SurfaceOwnership. The State and Federal ownership layers were used to verify and sometime correct data from the Cadastral system, some federal lands we found within Montana Cadastral as well. The fire protection layer is an attempt to bring together all data to form one authoritative fire protection layer, and on authoritative jurisdiction layer. Errors in the PAD us layer led me to create this jurisdictional layer. Data from this layer can be used to calculate offset fire protection, fire effects by jurisdiction, and for dispatching of wildland fire resources across the state of Montana. |
